BMA, Asset World Foundation for Charity and ThaiBev Unite with 3,000 Runners for "CBD We Run”, Igniting the First 'Pun Sook' Phenomenon, Each Runner Contributes to Planting for Park in the Sathorn District
Bangkok, 29 January 2024, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), Asset World Foundation for Charity (AWFC), established by Asset World Corp Public Company Limited (AWC), in collaboration with Thai Beverage Public Company Limited and a network of partners, united for the "CBD We Run", a charity city half marathon held in the heart of Bangkok, aimed at generating a significant green energy force, marking the first of its kind, and positive contributions to the community. For every Runner Pack provided, one tree will be planted in the park in Sathorn district through the BMA's 'BangkokTree: One Million Trees Project,' promoting well-being and 'Building a Better Future' for the people and communities in Bangkok.
Mrs. Wallapa Traisorat, a Board Member of The Asset World Foundation for Charity, and Chief Executive Officer and President of Asset World Corp Public Company Limited said “The Asset World Foundation for Charity, along with partners involved in the Give Green CBD 2023 project, extends special thanks to the BMA for unwavering support of the various ongoing activities under this project for 10 years. We are honored by the presence of Mr. Chatchart Sitthiphan, the Governor of Bangkok, who presided over the release and participated in the half marathon with 3,000 runners in the "CBD We Run," commencing from 'The Empire,' a prominent lifestyle office building under AWC. This marks the inaugural year that The Asset World Foundation for Charity and partners will allocate proceeds to 'Pun Sook', expanding green spaces within the park in the Sathorn district. We are nurturing this park with BMA, transforming it into a space of happiness that promotes well-being for the urban community in a sustainable manner.”
Under the concept "CBD We Run: A Charity City Half Marathon for the Environment and Community," which is a key component of the "GIVE GREEN CBD 2023" project, this initiative is now in its 10th year and aims to foster awareness among Bangkok people regarding environmental conservation and climate change. It also advocates for the optimal utilization of resources in line with the principles of the Circular Economy. The Runner Pack includes a special eco-friendly item crafted from recycled PET bottles. These bottles were previously used to construct a Christmas tree featured in the "A Charity Christmas Tree" event held at 'The Empire' in December 2023. The medals are made from bottle caps, and the running shirts are made from recycled PET fiber. Additionally, participants utilize portable silicone water bottles during the competition to minimize the environmental impact and reduce waste throughout the marathon.
"CBD We Run" featured three categories: a "Fun Run" covering 4.2 kilometers, a "Mini Marathon" spanning 10.5 kilometers, and a "Half Marathon" with 21 kilometers. Participants this year experienced the City Run route, guiding them through the heart of the city, passing notable landmarks like 'The Empire,' a new lifestyle office center boasting the largest space in Bangkok. The route also included the public park at Khlong Chong Nonsi, Sathorn Road, crossing the Chao Phraya River via the Taksin Bridge, and making a turn at the roundabout near the monument of King Taksin the Great.
